Announcement of Regatta

Photos by Billy Black

The annual Shipyard Cup will be held September 5th, 6th and 7th, 2008.

The Shipyard Cup is an invitational rally set in the Corinthian spirit. The regatta is open to yachts over 70' (21 meters) L.O.A. unless allowed to enter by arbitrary decision of the Race Committee.

All yachts participating will do so at their own risk. This should be an enjoyable regatta with the emphasis on fun and safety. We encourage all captains, crews and guests to participate safely and enjoy themselves.

The Race Committee will do their best to ensure that all handicap times are fair and just.

The Race Committee reserves the right to adjust the handicaps between races.

REGATTA RULES
In the spirit of this event and others like it...

  • The races will have pursuit starts.
  • There are no recalls; any yacht crossing early will have 10 minutes added to her elapsed time.
  • Yachts are allowed to use engines and thrusters up to the starting line.
  • Protests are discouraged; however they will be heard if the protest is filed within 30 minutes of the yacht's finish and is accompanied by a case of champagne. (Note: since you are in Maine you may substitute a car of lobsters for a case of champagne.)
  • VHF channel 72 will be used as the official race channel.
  • Race Committee decisions are final.
  • Entry fee of $500 USD made payable to the Shipyard Cup. Dockage, mooring fees, associated dues and gratuities will be the responsibility of the participating yacht.

Any yacht wishing to participate should contact Ted Smith at Hodgdon Yachts (207) 633-4194 tedsmith@hodgdonyachts.com
